Gougunao Tea is a precious local specialty of Jiangxi Province, originating from Gougunao Mountain in Suichuan County, Ji’an City. The tea is named after the mountain, which resembles a dog’s head. Despite its rustic-sounding name, the tea is of exceptional quality and has been praised since ancient times as having “quality that tops China and price that leads the world.” It is also a protected China National Geographical Indication Product .
Flavor Profile:
Appearance: Neat, uniform strips with subtle white pekoe, emerald green in color, and a glossy, fruit-skin-like sheen.
Aroma: An elegant orchid fragrance complemented by a subtle chestnut note — the most celebrated characteristic of Gougunao Tea.
Liquor Color: Clear and bright, yellow-green and translucent. Once brewed, the tea presents a clean, transparent liquor in a yellow-green or light green hue.
Taste: A refreshing and pleasant sensation, with a fragrance and sweetness that seem to permeate from within after drinking.
