Taiping Houkui, known as the “King of Jian Tea,” is a roasted green tea produced in the Huangshan region of Anhui. With limited production, its crafting process is highly meticulous and entirely manual.
The tea gardens face north on semi-shaded ridges and slopes, where the soil consists of deep, fertile, well-aerated black sandy loam formed from weathered granite. The high-altitude environment, characterized by low temperatures and atmospheric pressure, prompts tea plants to secrete aromatic oils, forming Taiping Houkui’s signature orchid fragrance. The tea offers a refreshing, mellow taste with a sweet finish and a distinctive “Houkui charm” (猴韵).
